Mint azt már többen olvashatták, a Jobbik európai parlamenti képviselője újabb szösszenettel állt elő, miszerint a „székely-magyar rovás ABC kötelező tanagyag legyen a hazai iskolákban, mi több, az útjelző táblákon is jelenjenek meg a települések nevei rovásírással.
Mit ne mondjak: Jó ötlet!

Körülbelül olyan jó, mintha a görögök azt követelnék, hogy mostantól ógörögül is szerepeljen minden felirat az Athénba vezető úton, vagy ha az USA-ban bevezetnék hivatalos nyelvként a már régen kihalt indián törzsi nyelvek oktatását. Kisiskolásainknak inkább idegen nyelvet kellene a mainál nagyobb intenzitással és hatékonysággal elsajátíttatni (oktatni). Csak egy megjegyzés ezzel kapcsolatban: minden évben néhány ezer egyetemista nem kapja meg a diplomáját, mert hiányzik a megfelelő nyelvvizsga bizonyítvány.

Buzgó EP képviselőnk elvéti a hagyományőrzés jelentőségét. Minden nép a kultúrájában él. Abban az érték közegben, amelyet tudományossága, nyelve, művészete felhalmozott az évszázadok során. Ennek őrzése és ápolása a nemzeti identitás egyik meghatározó alapja. Azonban a kulturális kincsre nem úgy kell tekinteni, mint egy állandó képződményre, amely folytonosan áll, és megdönthetetlenül tartja az egyre rárakódó rétegeket.

A nemzeti kultúra egy dinamikus „lény”. Vannak benne értékek, amelyek századokon, évezredeken keresztül fennmaradnak, a társadalom változásai ellenére ezeket az emberek magukénak vallják, őrzik azokat. Úgy vélem, hogy a székely-magyar rovásírás is ez utóbbi kategóriába tartozik. Szent István a keresztény Európába vezette be népét. Ez az Európa a keresztény latin kultúrkörhöz tartozott. Az egyház, amely meghatározó szellemiségű volt új államában a latin nyelvet és írást használta. Ez az írás lett a magyar írott nyelv alapja, ez terjedt el több évszázaddal később az egész országban.　Ezt a kulturális váltást nem lehet meg nem történté tenni. Meg nem történtté tenni azonban nem lehet. Emlékezhetünk arra, hogy ezer évvel ezelőtt – vagy egészen Magyarország első modernizációjáig, a XVII. század elejéig – hogyan írtunk, milyen volt írásos kifejezésünk. De ez ma már nem általános, kihullott a társadalom többségének értékrendjéből. Felelevenítése lehet kuriózum, ám kötelezővé tétele történelmietlen és – valljuk be – kicsit komikus is.

Rovás.info megjegyzése:

Megint egy nagyon nagy csúsztatás: a görög és ógörög emlegetése nem áll meg a magyar rovásra: mert a rovással a mai nyelvet használjuk, nem az ómagyart. Egyébként is ritkán találkozni ógörögül/ómagyarul beszélő emberrel :) A rovást pedig akár kötelezővé is lehet tenni, nem fog fájni: pár óra alatt elsajátítható, szemben az idegen nyelvvel, amelyhez több év sem elegendő. Több Nobel díjasunk is kijelentette, ha nem magyar lett volna az anyanyelve, soha nem jutott volna kimagasló tudományos eredményre (Teller Ede). Ezért a magyar nyelvet és nyelvtörténetet kell alaposan megtanítani.

Másik csúsztatás: a keresztény kultúrkör nincs ellentétben a rovással, sőt, a rovásemlékeink egy része a templomokban őrződött meg, sőt imákat is leírtak rovással. A latin írásnak volt ezer éve, hogy - eddig sikertelenül - hozzáidomuljon a magyar nyelvhez, a korszerű rovásjelekkel viszont tökéletesen lehet magyarul írni.
